Developer Public Art Plan, City of Maple Ridge, BC

Recognizing that public art is an effective tool to cultivate a distinct cityscape and enhance the public realm, the City of Maple Ridge approached Patricia to guide the strategic framework for the Private Sector Public Art Policy. The guidelines are designed to assist staff, developers, art consultants, artists, designers, architects, landscape architects and other interested stakeholders in the planning, selection and siting of public art in the City of Maple Ridge that is grounded in Place-Making.

Through establishing effective processes, the draft policy encourages developing a “spirit of place” through the commissioning, collecting and incorporation of unique works of art in private sector developments to further strengthen community identity and culture, in keeping with the City of Maple Ridge’s Public Art Policy.
