Arts BC Renewal Strategy
Arts BC has existed as the “umbrella” province-wide arts service organization since 1979. After the last decade of changes in administration, funding and shifting board mandates, Arts BC had lost its sense of purpose, and was faced with declining membership. In short, it was in organizational crisis. Patricia was engaged to design a process for Arts BC’s turnaround aimed to restore their vision and purpose in keeping with the needs of a changing cultural landscape. The result was a Renewal Strategy for Arts BC based on an organizational life-cycles approach and supported by a communications strategy.
The project commenced by designing a Road Map for the turnaround that included an organizational assessment process involving stakeholder outreach and an in-depth perception audit. Insights were distilled to strategic priorities and initiatives such as a full re-branding of the organization, an enhanced digital platform for member services and virtual administration, building capacity and maintaining financial sustainability, and building resources to promote community cultural development. Patricia is currently leading the implementation stage with the board which has included the development of core knowledge-sharing programs and services, a focus on initiatives such as rolling out a DigiStarts program to build digital literacy, expanding services for creative entrepreneurs, establishing strategic partnerships, resourcing key roles for the organization and a renewed financial plan.
